Thanks, Coach Waechter (and Coaches Hurst, White, and "Jorgy"), for another fine season in 2009. Not much was expected from our team this year - yet the Broncs won a district championship. As usual, you helped our boys to overachieve as individuals and, more importantly, as a team. It was gratifying to watch Z Reed grow from a 150 pound freshman into the area's best linebacker and a football scholarship winner. It was fun to watch K Anderson become the best defensive player pound-for-pound in the league. Big wins against Holcomb and SW Heights were a treat for everyone in Kearny County. Your low-key personality keeps you from receiving the accolades you deserve. During your six years as head coach, the football Broncs are 38-21 (64%), which is better than the six years before your arrival - and much better than the years from 1990-1995. That six year period saw the Broncs go 13-39-1. For perspective, you might consider that HOF coaches Don Shula and Hank Stram won at the rates of 66% and 55% respectively. You have not had even one losing season. You run a clean program. Your boys respect you and your assistants. Lakin has more than forty out for football each year. This number, at a small school, is amazing. The boys are having fun. They are becoming solid young men. They are developing the good habit of winning. You create a family atmosphere for the boys. Football is certainly number one at LHS. Thanks for being a class act during 33 years of coaching football at Lakin schools. I hope to watch your teams for many more years. Bob Byrne, parent, community member, and fan.

| 11-06-07 | What a wonderful four-year ride it has been! We have seen so many great football games! We were never ever disappointed in you, but only disappointed for you when things didn’t quite turn out the way we all wanted. It has been our pleasure to attend the games and get to know the team players in the class of 2008 and beyond. We will miss the football games for awhile, but we will be back in our purple on Friday nights when Gage starts high school football in 2010. Good luck and thanks again for four years of great football! Terry & Jean McAtee, grandparents of Reed |
| 10-29-07 | Broncs! What a great season! Even though things didn't turn out the way you had all hoped, I want you to know that we are so very proud of each and every one of you. Good Luck to next years' Broncs. Good Luck to the seniors moving on, it's been great watching each of you grow and become mature young men. |
